Dentalium shells are small, tubular mollusks that look like little elephant tusks. Dentalium shells have been used ornamentally as beads, money and symbols of wealth for thousands of years and many varieties can be found around the world. These shells come from India.
The word dentalium refers to tooth shells or Tusk shells used in indigenous jewelry, adornment and commerce in western Canada and the United States.
We sell them in four size ranges:
